These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the PostSpy Chrome extension and the website at postspy.ai (together, the "Service"). By installing the extension or creating an account, you agree to these Terms.
PostSpy is a notification tool. You add pages (URLs you would normally visit yourself) to a personal watch list and describe what kinds of new posts you want to be alerted about. The Service detects new posts on those pages, decides whether each one matches your description, and notifies you when it does. PostSpy is read-only — it does not post, comment, message, friend, react, or otherwise interact on your behalf on any third-party site.
You need to sign in with an email address to use the Service. You're responsible for keeping access to that inbox secure, because anyone with access to it can sign in as you via the magic-link flow. You agree that the information you provide (your email, primarily) is accurate. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
PostSpy lets you point it at pages on third-party sites that you yourself can already access. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of those third-party sites — including via PostSpy — complies with their terms of service and any applicable law. Different sites have different rules about automated reading, refresh frequency, and personal-use exceptions. If you're unsure, check the site's terms before adding it as a watch.
The Service is designed for personal, low-frequency monitoring of pages you would naturally visit yourself. It is not a tool for industrial-scale data collection, redistribution, or competition with the source site. By using PostSpy you agree not to use it for those purposes.
Session-bound architecture: PostSpy analyzes content already loaded during your active, authenticated browsing sessions in your own Chrome browser. It does not perform hidden background browsing or unattended web automation on platforms whose terms disallow it. We refer to these two behaviours as Scroll Mode (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Threads, and the Facebook main feed — PostSpy only reads posts that are already visible on your screen as you scroll, and extracts post text + URL only — never author names, profile URLs, or other person-data) and Watch Mode (marketplaces, job boards, Reddit, Facebook Groups, and similar public-listings sites — PostSpy may re-check pages on a personal-use schedule while Chrome is open and you are present at the machine). The mode for any given URL is determined automatically and shown on the spy edit drawer in your dashboard.
Server-side TOS-decision cache: PostSpy maintains a server-side cache of automated terms-of-service classifications for every host added to a watch list. When you add a spy on a host the cache hasn't seen before, our server reads that host's terms and an AI classifier assigns it to Watch Mode or Scroll Mode within ~30 seconds; your spy creates immediately on safe-default Watch Mode in the meantime. The complete cache (host, tier, reasoning, date last reviewed) is publicly viewable at postspy.ai/policies. If you believe a host's classification is wrong, email hello@postspy.ai — we re-classify on request.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these acceptable-use rules, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.
PostSpy offers a free plan and one or more paid plans. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. By upgrading, you authorise us (via Stripe) to charge your nominated payment method the applicable monthly fee until you cancel.
You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the billing portal accessible inside the extension. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you'll keep the paid features until then. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for partial months, unless required by law or unless we agree otherwise in writing.
If a payment fails, your account may be temporarily downgraded to the free plan. We may change pricing or plan limits with at least 30 days' notice, by email to the address on your account.
We work hard to keep PostSpy up and running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Service depends on third-party providers (authentication, AI matching, email delivery, payments, hosting) — when one of those is degraded, PostSpy may be too. Scheduled maintenance and emergency work may occasionally interrupt the Service without prior notice.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We won't materially reduce a paid plan's headline limits (number of watches, daily judge limit, allowed cadences) without at least 30 days' notice to existing paid customers.
PostSpy, its software, branding, and documentation are owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the extension and the Service for your personal or business use, subject to these Terms.
You retain all rights to any content you provide to the Service (for example, the natural-language description of your watches). By providing it, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to process that content as required to deliver the Service to you.
PostSpy surfaces excerpts of posts from third-party sites so you can decide whether to click through. Those posts are the property of their authors and the sites that host them. PostSpy does not claim any rights to that content and provides it solely so you can act on it (e.g. open the original post). Your use of any third-party content is governed by the terms of the originating site.
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will catch every relevant post on every watched page. AI matching is probabilistic — PostSpy will sometimes miss matches you would have noticed yourself, and it will sometimes flag posts you don't care about.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any consumer guarantees, statutory warranties, or other rights that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer-protection laws applicable to you (including, for example, the Australian Consumer Law, the EU Consumer Rights Directive, the UK Consumer Rights Act, and similar regimes elsewhere).
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $100.
We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages — including lost profits, lost opportunities, missed leads, or lost data — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the Service, or (c) your violation of any applicable law or any third-party site's terms of service while using the Service.
You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension or emailing us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or for any other reason we consider necessary to protect the Service or other users. On termination, your account data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll notify you by email to the address on your account at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
PostSpy is operated from Australia. These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
If you are a consumer resident outside Australia, nothing in this clause limits your right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence, or to rely on mandatory consumer-protection laws of that country that cannot be derogated from by agreement.
For any questions about these Terms, email hello@postspy.ai.
